Our vision is to create a nationally recognised action sports and community hub in North Devon - a place where people of all ages and backgrounds can move, progress, connect and thrive.
The ambition is broader than a single sports venue. North Devon ASC is being developed as a welcoming, year-round destination for riding, movement, coaching, youth opportunity, families, community activity and social connection.
The concept is intentionally phased so the project can grow in a realistic and sustainable way as demand, partnerships and funding develop.
A phased campus, built around community benefit.
North Devon ASC is currently in Phase 0 - development and early engagement. This stage is testing demand, potential sites, governance, funding, commercial viability and stakeholder support before a decision is made on formal feasibility and delivery.
The current concept is for a phased indoor action sports campus, with future expansion shaped by evidence and opportunity rather than committing everything on day one.
Core venue
A welcoming first-stage hub providing the foundation for coaching, participation and community activity.
Street hall
Indoor skate, BMX, scooter and wheeled-sports progression space designed for year-round use.
Movement space
Potential climbing, parkour, trampolining, gymnastics and complementary movement activities.
Outdoor & social campus
Longer-term options may include pump track, outdoor plaza, social spaces and further destination activities.
Community benefit built into the model.
North Devon ASC intends to establish the project as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), subject to Charity Commission approval and completion of the required governance work.
The aim is to combine strong commercial disciplines with a clear charitable purpose: creating accessible opportunities for participation, progression, coaching, youth development, health, wellbeing and community connection.
Charitable structure
The intended CIO model would provide a dedicated legal structure governed by charity trustees and focused on delivering the organisation's charitable purposes.
Reinvesting surplus
Operating surplus would be reinvested into facilities, programmes, access, coaching and future development rather than distributed to private owners or shareholders.
Long-term community benefit
The model is intended to support an inclusive, financially sustainable organisation capable of creating lasting opportunities for young people, families and the wider community.
A strong culture. A clear year-round opportunity.
North Devon already has a strong surf, skate, BMX, cycling and outdoor culture. The project is exploring whether that culture, combined with local families, schools, clubs, community groups and a substantial visitor economy, can support a high-quality indoor action sports destination.
Young people, riders and families at the heart of the idea.
The visual concept is built around inclusive participation, progression and belonging - from young riders and skaters, to scooter users, BMXers, climbers, families and the wider community.
Built through engagement, not in isolation.
North Devon ASC is at an early stage and is seeking constructive conversations with people and organisations who can help test the need, shape the concept and understand what successful delivery could require.
That includes local riders and families, schools, clubs, coaches, community organisations, councils, governing bodies, potential delivery partners, businesses, funders and people with relevant professional experience.
